Aggelos is a boy with special characteristics and needs. Even though he has no pathological problem, he has a hard time speaking and he communicates with gestures. He has also a slight mental disorder. None-the-less, he is very social and outgoing, ready to make friendships, to give and receive love. He has a passion for balls and for soccer. The best gift for him is a soccer ball and an adult who is willing to play. He is gentle as well, and expressive, thirsty to receive love, care and security. He attends a deaf class in school, where the lessons are both in sign language and verbal. He is willing to study, as long as there is someone next to him to guide him through and emotionally support him with undivided attention.

Maria is a happy, gentle and incredibly generous love-giving little girl, despite the fact that love was something that she was deprived in life. She has a warrior’s soul and has an incredibly strong physical built, with abilities to perform high in sports as well as in dance. This is why her mediocre school performance doesn’t alarm us. We definitely support her in the effort of making her school performance the best possible but we know that there are other ways in life as well. She loves to draw and is always willing to help cook. She especially loves baking cakes. She keeps inside of her many secrets from the past, which she will share only with someone with whom she has built a relationship of love and trust.

Dear Friends,

With great joy, we introduce you the three children that we host in the Shelter of our organization in Agios Dimitrios, Athens.

Filadelfia – Mikrolimano

Close to the children is Mrs. Eyterpi Dimopoulou, a sweet and at the same time dynamic woman, who stands with special grace and wisdom from God during the everyday challenges. She continuously gains the favor of the children’s hearts and we are grateful for this soft “rain in the harvested field”.

The reality is that the children that we see today have changed a lot in comparison to how they were when they first came to us. They have learnt that school is necessary, which they didn’t know before, and that they must seek excellence in all that they do. We teach them to respect authority and trust the adults for their needs -physical as well as emotional. We teach them to fear and to love God, to follow His ways instead of their own. Recently they expressed the desire to dedicate their lives in His work as missionaries. Alexandros distinctly said that he wanted to work amongst the Roma people from which he comes.

We are certain, that God has a wonderful plan for the lives of these children and this is why he stretched out His arm and pulled them out of the destructive environment in which they were growing However, the process is a challenging battle. These children carry the burden of the bad legacy of the Roma people and they are full of wounds, pain and anger. We ask that you pray for the Lord to visit them with salvation, healing and transformation.

We, also, ask that you keep in mind their material needs. The monthly bill is large, as besides the rent and the operational expenses for the house, we also need to pay for a social worker and for a psychologist. At the same time, we support our volunteers, with gifts, which are very much needed.

We depend exclusively on the Lord and on His people for the covering of these needs. We thank Him because up until now, he has never left us and we express our thanks to all of you that have supported us in this journey. Please, keep standing next to us through this journey, and our Heavenly Father will give back to you in His unique way.
