… Moses answered, “We will go with our young and our old, with our sons and our daughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival to the Lord.” Exod. 10:9
When Pharaoh encouraged Moses to take only the men to worship the Lord, Moses answered him that they were to leave no one behind and that they would all leave from Egypt, despite the difficulties of taking with them people of older age that had the problems and difficulties of the old age.
He understood very well that if they left beloved people behind, there would always be a hindering thought in their road to freedom concerning the whereabouts of those that were unable to follow, and sooner or later they would have to return. If they wanted total freedom, they had to leave all together, so that they would go to celebrate and thank the Lord. No matter how difficult that would be. No one was to stay under Egypt’s captivity.
The “Moses” ministry has to do with older people. The process for the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt has been the inspiration for this ministry.
Today, there are beloved people around us, for which age gets in the way of allowing them to participate in the “celebrations for the Lord”. They need younger people to encourage and to support them spiritually, so that they will be able to stand aligned with the rest, worship the Lord, and so that we will all be filled with joy.
There are three practical ways that are followed:
- Regular team meetings
- House visits
- Regular telephone communications
Our goal is not just for the older people to get mobilized within the church, but to also go out in the world and proclaim the victory that they have received from the Lord over their lives. This goal has started to become a reality.
There are younger volunteers that help in this ministry. Through our communication, the Lord’s blessing comes and wipes out the age difference, so that we may all rejoice with each other and enjoy the healing presence of the Lord among us.
